Luca Nicolosi (known as Picapau, “woodpecker” in Portuguese) is an award-winning, Sicilian director, born in 1997. From an early age, his talent for drawing helped him to articulate and express his inner and outer world on paper. Through his own eyes, Luca created stories based on what inspired his imagination which led to the development of a sensitive, detail-based inner vision and a passion towards other artistic mediums such as music, painting, LEGO building and cinema.
Eventually Luca’s artistic expressions aligned with the philosophy behind movie making by telling a story with action and converting it into emotion, just like a “moving” drawing.
In order to pursue his dreams and aspirations Luca moved to Rome where he started filming interviews with Italian rap stars like CaneSecco and Junior Cally. Gaining experience, he worked for RAI as a director and editor for the opening titles of “Flash”, a RaiPlay tv-series in 2018.
He then wrote, directed and edited two short films which have been awarded Best Picture, Best International Short, Best Fantasy Short attracting national and international attention. One of which was a short film in collaboration with Makinarium, Italy’s biggest and most prestigious SFX/VFX film industry specialist.
At 22, Luca moved to Milan to test and transfer his cinematic vision and skills by working in the fashion and advertising Industries for clients such as Paco Rabanne, MaxMara, BVLGARI, Philipp Plein and VOGUE. He also worked outside the Italian territory, filming in Cannes, Lugano, Mykonos and Berlin.
Currently based between Milan and Rome, Luca is always ready to push himself and offer clients his personal cinematic visual touch.
